WaterWays: Restoring & Restorying Watersheds

WaterWays is a growing reservoir of projects, resources, stories, and more to renew and replenish stewardship of watersheds.
Each human body of water who participates in Dear Body of Water becomes a Tributary. Participants enter the project portal by writing love letters to bodies of water: renewing their relationship with water as a fellow living being, to grow the flow of care and repair. This is only a first step. The larger project relates to stewarding watersheds as our literal lifeblood: interconnecting WaterWays.
WaterWays serves as a confluence to grow the flow of replenishing care across watersheds. Community groups, environmental organizations, arts groups, schools and universities have become Replenishers. Local efforts are highlighted throughout this website to renew and interconnect attentions to water.
What replenishing efforts are underway in your community? What possibilities do you wish to grow in the future? If your community is engaging Dear Body of Water or working on replenishing efforts that might interconnect WaterWays, please share: dearbodyofwater@gmail.com. This global web project is a work-in-progress. Thank you for growing the flow of our co-created story.
WaterWays is curated by Gretchen Ernster Henderson of Dear Body of Water, with gratitude to the University of Arizona Poetry Center, Wick Poetry Center at Kent State University, and the national coalition of Poets for Science for supporting this project. Locally-based partnerships are growing with grateful acknowledgements flowing throughout this website.
To start attuning to water in your midst, drink a glass of water and consider the source.
